Signs of Yeast
Infections
One of the more common problems that many
women face is a yeast infection. Health care
professionals universally agree that the most effective way of
treating and resolving a yeast infection is to begin treatment
for a yeast infection immediately. Therefore, if you are
to have the best chance of quickly resolving a yeast infection,
it is important for you to understand and appreciate the
signs of yeast infections. Through this
informational article, you are provided with the signs of yeast
infections to place you in a better position to deal with any
yeast infection that you might experience in the future.
The signs of yeast infections can be
extremely mild (so mild that some symptoms may barely be
noticed) to extremely severe. A person afflicted with a
yeast infection may exhibit one, some or all of the signs of
yeast infections.
The most common signs of yeast
infections include:
• burning sensation of the vagina
• burning sensation during urination
• discomfort during or after sexual intercourse
• odor (in some instances the odor will be unpleasant but
that is not always the case)
• irritation of the vagina
• itching and burning of the vulva
• itching sensation of the vagina
• painful urination
• painful intercourse
• vulva redness and swelling
Once again, you need to keep in mind that
you might experience one, some or all of these various
signs of yeast infections.
In some cases of a yeast infection, a woman will experience
vaginal discharge. You need to keep in mind that this is
not always the case. If you are experiencing a vaginal
discharge associated with a yeast infection, this related
symptom of a yeast infection will include:
• cottage-cheese-like in nature
• thick, whitish-gray discharge
• watery to thick in consistency
As with the other signs of yeast infections,
if discharge occurs, it can be mild to severe. A more
severe discharge likely is an indication of a more advanced
yeast infection. However, as was mentioned, discharge is
not always present in the case of a yeast infection.
When you notice any of the signs of yeast
infection, you should commence treatment immediately. The
sooner you initiate a treatment regimen for a yeast infection
after you notice the signs of yeast infections the better your
odds of dealing with and resolving the infection in the
shortest period of time. There are a wide range of
products available to you on the market today that can
effectively treat most yeast infections.
If you do start a treatment regimen for a yeast infection in a
timely manner, you should start to see improvement in the
condition within the course of a few days. In about one
week's time, the yeast infection should be completely or nearly
completely resolved.
If at the seven day mark you do not notice a
significant improvement in the yeast infection, you need to
consult with your doctor as soon as possible. If you
experience a recurring yeast infection within a two month
period of time, you also need to consult with your doctor as
soon as you can.
